The Employee Relations Manager is an integral part of Company’s People Operations team. This position reports to the Director People Operations and Business Partner, and plays a key role in the design, implementation, management, and continuous improvement of Company’s employee relations frameworks and deliverables, including handbooks, contracts, procedures, and policies.
The Employee Relations Manager will lead organizational initiatives on compliance and employment topics, including key worldwide employee relations tools, policies, and templates. The Employee Relations Manager is expected to remain current on regulations, laws, industry trends and best practices; and to keep the organization compliant and competitive by advising management and making timely changes in practices and policies. They will share knowledge and develop the professional skills of the People Operations function around employee-focused policies and practices and create a broader understanding of employment requirements and best practices worldwide.
The Employee Relations Manager will work as a close partner with Company’s in-house Legal unit and be accountable for building and maintaining relationships with a network of HR service providers and labor law firms around the world to ensure Company’s compliance with local laws and regulations. The Employee Relations Manager will work closely with the worldwide People Operations team, including our People Operations Managers based in our country offices, in all aspects of this work.
The Employee Relations Manager must be a self-motivated team player who is committed to our cause and has a track record of successfully designing and implementing organizational change management processes around employee relations, policy, and compliance.
The Employee Relations Manager is responsible for investigating and resolving employee performance issues and conflicts. Handles employee complaints, manages grievance procedures, and facilitates counseling in conjunction with other stakeholders. Investigates and resolves complex or critical employee relations issues in a timely and effective manner. Plans and participates in employee engagement activities including company-wide reward and recognition programs. Ensures compliance with HR policies and procedures through mentoring and education. Assists in the development and maintenance of employee relations policies and procedures. Responds to unemployment and worker’s compensation claims. This position reports to the Director of Employee Relations.
The Employee Relations Manager is a distinct function within Company’s People Solutions Department responsible for evaluating and managing moderate to complex employee complaints and internal HR investigations. In consultation with Legal, Business Partners, and business leaders, the Employee Relations Manager will make recommendations regarding appropriate action where there is discriminatory conduct, harassment, inappropriate workplace behavior, or other violation of company policy.

The purpose of the Employee Relations Manager position is to conduct multi-faceted and specialized workplace investigations using objectivity and the ability to engage employees with empathy. Provide consultative support and guidance to employees, managers, and Human Resources Business Partners (HRBP), to ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures in the prevention and resolution of employee issues which arise out of or affect work situations. Implement and execute employee relations programs/practices that create a positive organizational culture and enable management effectiveness.
Partner primarily with HRBPs, Legal and Compliance, as well as work directly with both employees and management to resolve employment issues, and mediate situations as appropriate, to create an overall high performance and healthy work environment.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Employee Relations Manager supports both faculty and staff employees in resolving a broad spectrum of human resources issues. This position supervises the Human Resource Analyst.
