The Patient Care Technician (PCT), under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and in accordance with the provisions of the State Declaratory Ruling, is responsible for performing specified tasks related to the care and well being of patients.
These responsibilities may vary based on the Business Unit in which they work and may include but are not limited to: obtaining and documenting patient information; assisting in daily living activities; lifting, moving and transporting patients; management of drainage bags and associated documentation; providing personal care and feeding assistance as necessary; specimen collection; and preparing patients for or assisting in the preparation of patients for various tests and/or procedures.
The Patient Care Technician is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction (patient, family, physician, others), maintaining patient confidentiality and being sensitive to the age specific patient needs for comfort, privacy and generalized care. Incumbents of this position will annually complete the attached competency requirements specific to their area(s) of responsibility.
