The Inventory Controller is responsible for the management and continuous development of the consolidated Inventory Department. The role of the Inventory Controller is to ensure all Inventory transactions are processed timely, service level agreements are met, a high level of customer service is maintained and processes are in compliance with company policy and audit controls.

The Inventory Controller is an integral member of the surgical team and is accountable for the availability of supplies for patients as well as operational supplies for the Pre-Op, Day Surgery Unit, and PACU while keeping within the annual projected budget. The Inventory Controller anticipates needs for scheduled surgical procedures by utilizing the OR schedule, preference cards, and purchase history. He/she works with the manager to maintain par levels to support these goals. The Inventory Controller ensures PeopleSoft carts and integration page are accurate - these maintain par levels and feed supplies to the OR medical record as well as locations on surgeon preference lists for surgical procedures to aid in finding items. The inventory controller provides information to appropriate staff about product changes. He/she develops relationships with Surgeons, Anesthesia staff, and nursing staff, the Inventory Controller functions as an interdisciplinary team member who provides necessary items for quality patient care and contributes toward the attainment of important goals for the patient, the department, and the organization.
