Duties & Responsibilities 2

The Nursing Supervisor is a registered nurse who works in coordination with nursing leadership.
The Nursing Supervisor is the first line of support for staff, physicians, and other related providers on clinical issues and provides assessment, prioritization, and direction of activities to meet the challenging demands of the hospital units.
- Following the direction of the Nurse Manager, he or she assumes accountability for fostering the established professional practice and care delivery models through directing, coaching, and mentoring the nursing staff.
- The Nursing Supervisor implements unit-specific strategies as well as colleague-specific practice remediation that results in achieving specific clinical quality and patient safety outcomes.
- This role also collaborates with the Nurse Manager on clinical development (employee relations, individual behaviors, physician relationships, etc.) and is the clinical support for the department when the Nurse Manager is unavailable.

Graduate of accredited registered nurse program with current licensure in the state, BSN preferred.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support required.

The Nursing Supervisor is primarily responsible for administering nursing operations during off-shift hours, weekends, and holidays. Collaborates with nurse executive, or designee, to adjust staff, as necessary, by transferring individual staff members from one unit to another, arranging and approving necessary over time and/or unscheduled shifts, and calls in relief staff.
- Provides appropriate documentation and communication of information such as the condition of critically ill patients, patient admissions and discharges, patients scheduled for surgery, staffing, and unusual occurrences to assure continuity of care and appropriate utilization of resources.
- Assesses problem situations related to patients, families, visitors, staff, and/or physicians. After thorough investigation, plans and implements corrective action as needed. Evaluates action taken and communicate results to the direct supervisor. Maintains and models effective working relationships with all hospital employees, physicians, patients, families, and visitors.
- Communicates and collaborates with Administrator-On-C all as appropriate for solutions of any specific and/or unusual situations (e.g., activation of disaster plan).

Experience: Two years of nursing experience in a hospital setting. Previous ICU experience is required. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.
Education: Graduation from an accredited technical school of nursing; BSN desired
