The Kitchen Assistant performs a variety of food preparation, cleaning and kitchen operation duties for the Refectory dining room as well as periodic campus catering duties. It assists other kitchen staff when asked. Work as a team member in a small kitchen production staff. Must have or be able to earn in 3 months, a current safe food guidelines as specified by National registry of Food Safety Professionals valid in State.

Also, responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment. This position will report directly to the Kitchen Manager. The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for supporting the Kitchen Manager in all areas of meal preparation, presentation cleanliness and sanitation. The Kitchen Assistant, under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager will insure children are served nutritious, good tasting and appealing meals and snacks. It is the Kitchen Assistant's responsibility to assist with food prep in preparing these meals and snacks by methods that maintain high nutrient levels and that are sanitary. Kitchen cleanliness, dish washing and overall sanitation of the kitchen must be in compliance with health and safety standards.

The Kitchen Assistant is responsible for insuring that the pots, pans, utensils and other wares used in cooking, baking and service are presented in a clean, sanitary and organized fashion; while providing essential support to the efforts of the culinary team. They are also responsible for helping to maintain a clean and organized kitchen by actively engaging in general cleaning duties while managing the trash, compost and recycling systems to standard.
