Technical Writer Job Description

Job summary 1

We are seeking a Technical Writer whose responsibilities include creating, writing, a variety of technical manuals including maintenance manuals (AMM, CMM, GMM), Pilot Operating Handbooks (POHs), Service Bulletins (SB), Operating Instructions (OI), training documents, and other manuals to S1000D specification, and outputting them into PDF, Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and other formats. The Technical Writer will make sure that the documentation conforms to established style guides and standards and will work with product managers and end users to make sure all technical documentation meets customer requirements. He/she will oversee preparation of illustrative materials, select drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. He/she will conduct quality review of materials.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for activities associated with reviewing documentation and project deliverables and basic QA tasks. Duties include team management, content creation, editing and formatting documents per established style guidelines, participating in the formal review and approval of such documents and publications. The Technical Writer leads a team of technical writers who work closely with the Engineering, Marketing, Service, Regulatory and Quality organizations to create and manage documents and other publications, including user and service manuals, generally intended for disclosure to customers, distributors and the public. The ideal candidate has a strong writing/editing background, is willing to expand their skill set to learn new skills, is organized, and possesses a willingness to divide their time between the Technical Writing, Quality Assurance (QA), Operations and Research and Development teams, although most of the effort will be Technical Writing. Ensures technical materials are clear, concise and easily understood by various constituents.
