Job summary 1
The Teaching Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and in developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the Teaching Assistant observes and documents children’s interest and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff. Teaching Assistant is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director.

Each Teaching Assistant is paired with a Lead Teacher. The teaching pairs consistently plan for and monitor the progress of each of the students in their classes in all content areas. Teaching Assistant's begin by shadowing, and gradually begin taking on teaching responsibilities. They are responsible for teaching and planning lessons for core academic areas on a daily basis. Teaching Assistant's provide input for planning and assessing in all content areas and attend all relevant professional development, grade level team meetings, and Response to Intervention. Teaching Assistant's and Lead Teachers utilize a variety of co-teaching structures to ensure the academic success for all students in all content areas.
