Complete proper and adequate installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, of HVAC related systems including hot water boilers, chiller, cooling towers, refrigeration systems, pumps, blowers, fans, variable frequency drives, and all other associated mechanical and electrical systems.
Maintain proper building indoor air quality (IAQ) according to local and national IAQ codes and regulations.
Participate in and provides insight into the maintenance and improvements of HVAC and related system operations and computerized maintenance management systems that support work order management and preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs associated with HVAC systems and auxiliary equipment.
Participate in safety culture including proper use of PPE including but not limited to masks, boots, gloves, safety glasses and hard hat if working around construction projects.
Respond to routine and emergency calls for repair and service throughout the facility during occupied and unoccupied hours.
- Understand and analyze drawings in order to identify the location of HVAC systems and associated electrical, water, and gas utilities.

Under moderate supervision, the HVAC Technician performs maintenance and service repairs on heating, ventilating, air conditioning systems, pumping, security and sensor equipment. Installs new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.

Overhauls and services air conditioning, heating, and ventilating equipment. Removes and installs motors, thermostats, and humidistat.
Repairs and replaces worn and broken parts on condensers, compressors, and water and vacuum pumps.
Repairs and adjusts valves, piping connections, fittings, and couplings; adjusts electrical parts and equipment; adjusts expansion valves and adds gas to refrigeration units; and tests refrigeration equipment for refrigerant leaks.
Maintains records and prepares reports on repairs and service to equipment.
- Directs work, provides technical assistance and performs inspections of work performed by detainee maintenance staff.
- Assists in maintaining the security of assigned detainees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of five (5) years full-time, wage earning experience in the operation, repair, and maintenance of HVAC or refrigeration systems and equipment. Thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university may be substituted for each year of experience on a year for-year basis for a maximum substitution of two (2) years.
- Current Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved Type I and Type II Refrigerant Recovery Certification preferred.

- Familiarity with industry standards such as ANSI Z21.47, and UL 1995 is a plus
- Experience with HVAC troubleshooting/diagnostics and the ability to follow engineering test procedures are highly desirable skillsets for interested candidates.
