Conducts inspections; collects field data on new construction and building improvements; determines exterior and interior dimensions of buildings, classifying and grading, building components, quality of construction and workmanship, and determines functional and physical depreciation of the structure.
Maintains and verifies a variety of data and records pertaining to real property assessments, building permits, and personal property to be appraised;
Studies building plans and specifications to obtain data regarding size, type of construction and other factors which affect property value.
Prepares field sheets on each parcel, enters data using a Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system to determine real property assessment.
- Confers with property owners to obtain information and/or explain property assessment methods, procedures, techniques, values, etc.
- Assists the general public with real estate and personal property assessment problems; works to resolve customer problems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills 1

Possession of an Associate’s degree in real estate, business administration, or a related field.
One (1) to two (2) years of experience in real estate appraisal with a minimum of one IAAO course, or a closely related field involving public relations.
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities
Proficient with computer software applications such as Excel and Word.
Knowledge of relational database characteristics.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license; possess and maintain a driving record that meets established Gloucester County Driving Standards.
