Step into a Night on the Floor in Columbus

It’s just before midnight when you arrive at Novolex in Columbus, ready to keep a world of packaging moving. As the on-shift expert for plant equipment, you’ll move from line to line ensuring machines start cleanly, run safely, and stay reliable. One moment you’re installing or setting up equipment tied to plant operations and facility services; the next, you’re diagnosing an electrical issue and replacing a component to keep production on pace.

Throughout the night, you’ll apply your knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and controls. You’ll assist Operators when a mechanical system needs attention, upgrade process control equipment as new technology rolls out, and stay current on state-of-the-art control systems to prevent downtime before it starts.

Role Highlights

• Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic components for plant equipment and facilities.
• Install, set up, maintain, and repair equipment related to plant operations, services, and facilities.
• Diagnose, repair, and replace electrical components as needed.
• Support upgrades to process control equipment as technology evolves.
• Stay knowledgeable on advanced control systems and their application.
• Assist shift Operators by performing mechanical system repairs when required.

Compensation & Schedule

• Starting pay: $21.32–$32.68
• $0.55 shift differential
• Eligible for annual and skill-based wage increases
• Eligible for monthly bonus based upon plant productivity*
• Available shift: 11:50pm–8:00am (Sunday–Thursday)

What You Bring

• Solid understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and electrical troubleshooting
• Analytical mindset and strong technical skills, including electrical and PLC programming
• Team-oriented with clear, effective communication at all levels
• HS Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred
• 3+ years as a technician in the plastics industry
• Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated problem-solving ability
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
