Plant Facilities Reliability Mechanic

Day in the life — Temple, Texas

Your shift begins at 7:45 a.m. You scan the maintenance dashboard, review preventive tasks, and walk the floor to spot issues before they become downtime. A compressor startup, cooling tower checks, then a quick assist on a chiller—by mid-morning you’ve diagnosed a tricky pneumatic fault and coordinated a contractor for a specialized repair beyond routine scope. After lunch, you turn a shaft on the lathe, weld a small bracket, log parts usage in the system, and coach a newer teammate on safe tool handling. You finish by closing out work orders, tidying to 5S, and leaving the area safer than you found it.
