Thermoforming Changeover and Tooling Technician — Franklin Park, IL

Step into a day where your precision keeps an entire plant running. You arrive in Franklin Park, check the production schedule, and line up the first changeover on a Lyle thermoformer. While the line completes its last run, you’re already prepping inserts in the tool shop, micrometers and calipers in hand. By mid-morning, you’ve executed a major changeover, updated the CMMS with your work and parts used, and partnered with Quality and Supervision to release the line for production. When a second line lags on OEE, you jump in—tuning trim tools, assisting with extrusion tasks, and coaching an operator on the machine’s console to get back to target. It’s hands-on, technical, and central to our success.

Compensation

• Starting pay range: $28.73 – $34.14 an hour (Based on Experience)

Available Shifts

• 6:30am – 3:00pm, Monday–Friday; open to weekend overtime as needed
• 7:00am – 7:00pm on a 2-2-3 rotation

What You’ll Tackle

• Execute minor and major changeovers on the production floor for Lyle Thermoforming and OMG equipment.
• Remove and load mold inserts both offline in the tool shop and online at the machine.
• Document each changeover with accurate records; coordinate with Quality and Supervision to release lines to production.
• Perform basic extrusion operator tasks to support inline changeovers and resolve process issues.
• Repair forming molds and trim tools to sustain consistent production flow.
• Carry out general maintenance on thermoforming and labeling automation equipment.
• Assist maintenance associates with troubleshooting and solutions to restore uptime.
• Make machine adjustments; notify the Maintenance Manager when complex adjustments are required to bring the thermoformer to production-ready status.
• Pitch in as needed, performing duties of other production employees and packers.
• Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools during setups and maintenance.
• Read and operate the machine’s computer console accurately; help train operator associates on the controls.
• Own initial set-up and first-run parts to meet all Quality department criteria (Green Time).
• Monitor the ongoing manufacturing process; assist any line that isn’t achieving OEE targets.
• Utilize the plant’s CMMS to record work performed, labor hours, and parts checked out for breakdowns.
• Maintain daily housekeeping standards.
• Work effectively with limited supervision; other duties may be assigned.

What You Bring

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Completion of Set Up Technician Sr. Specialist training or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams.
• Flexibility for overtime and off-shifts as needed.
