Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Site Operations Manager

Lead the Safety Journey at Novolex

Picture your day beginning on the production floor—listening to an operator describe a near miss, checking an air permit dashboard, and prepping for an external audit—all before lunch. As the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Site Operations Manager, you own the daily rhythm of our Safety function. You make sure policies aren’t just written; they’re lived—by technicians, engineers, and leaders across the plant. You align our practices with OSHA, EPA, and state requirements, and you keep us ready for internal and third‑party audits at any moment.

In close partnership with Operations, Maintenance, HR, and site leadership, you’ll deploy EHS programs that heighten risk awareness, drive corrective and preventive actions, and reduce the likelihood of occupational injuries, illnesses, and exposures. You’ll analyze issues, build business cases for improvements, and turn insights into action. Most importantly, you’ll cultivate a culture where every employee owns safety—through training, education, and visible leadership by example.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, implement, and sustain EHS policies, procedures, and programs that meet or exceed OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/local regulations.
  • Partner with the Training team to deliver effective safety training, ensuring a secure, compliant workplace.
  • Lead investigations for injuries, illnesses, near misses, and risk concerns; verify and track corrective actions to closure.
  • Champion Human Performance principles using training, practical tools, and event learning teams.
  • Identify inherent operational hazards and collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and HR to mitigate them.
  • Support Workers’ Compensation case management for the site.

  • Plan and execute internal audits; detect existing/potential hazards; recommend and follow up on preventive and corrective measures.
  • Coordinate emergency response (medical, chemical, fire, evacuation/rescue), including responder designation, training, and drill schedules.

Your work directly influences product quality and operational reliability. Broad technical knowledge, strong problem solving, and decisive judgment are essential to meeting our standards and maintaining efficiency.
