A day in the life

Start your shift on the production floor, reviewing assignments in the work order system and prioritizing calls. You’ll listen closely to a conveyor drive, pinpoint a faulty component, and adjust the control instrument to spec. Next, you might dismantle a gearbox to replace a worn bearing, reference wiring diagrams to troubleshoot a basic electrical circuit with your multimeter, and fire the line back up to verify performance. Before lunch, you’ll lubricate key points and complete general PMs; by afternoon, you’re interpreting hydraulic and pneumatic schematics, replacing a valve, and using a drill press or grinder to fabricate a small bracket. You wrap up by documenting repairs and preparing for the next 2-2-3 rotation.
