The individual in this role administers the implementation, design and ongoing support of the Public Work’s Geographical Information System. The purpose of this job is to gather and maintain geographic information pertinent to the Public Works Department; and to prepare and provide maps and drawings for the Public Works Department and the public.

Under the supervision of the GIS Coordinator Director, the GIS Technician is a non-exempt position under FLSA. The primary goal of this position is to assist in the creation and timely updating of the counties Geographic Information System. The position is responsible for the current upkeep of the GIS geodatabases, shapefiles and ownership tracking in the county, in addition to manual mapping as needed.
