Job summary 1
The Park Ranger performs administrative customer support as well as semi-skilled service maintenance work in performing manual labor tasks in the upkeep and repair of public parks grounds. Work requires knowledge of techniques, methods, and procedures used in park operations, maintaining park facilities and equipment as well as providing general customer service which is learned on the job or through specialized training. Contacts require courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others to request or provide information, ask questions or obtain clarification. Duties at the park are in a fast-paced environment requiring strong multi-tasking skills. Operates telephones, motor vehicles, computers using word processing applications, an assortment of machinery and tools, and standard office equipment. The work is performed in both office and field environments where there are some risks and hazards, but they are known, predictable, and controllable. The physical demands involve light to moderate physical activity which may include lifting or moving objects weighing more than 50 pounds. The work is performed under immediate supervision where the work assignments are covered by established procedures and regulations.
