Works involves some diversity of product where application of established estimating practices is not difficult and scope of manufacturing operations is recognized as standard methods. Assists with originating and developing cost data where no previous standard practice data exists. Prepares final estimates for approval. Works is subject to check and verification and instructions are usually given on variations.

The Cost Estimator shall be responsible for the development and preparation of Capital Project Cost Estimates for the Capital Program, and various miscellaneous in-house designed projects during the planning and design phases of the project.

The Cost Estimator, will generate and manage estimates required for pre-construction and bidding efforts. The Cost Estimator provides estimates, budget control, bid coverage and procurement projects and potential projects during pre-construction and construction phases of a project and across all scopes, systems, and assemblies. Estimates vary from conceptual to lump sum bids. Ability to complete full quantity take-offs to support accurate estimates for all disciplines in commercial projects including, but not limited to civil and site work, structural, concrete, envelope, finishes, mechanical, and electrical. A complete understanding of the interrelationship of the cost of labor, material, equipment, and productivity in the unit costs used at each level of an estimate is expected.
