Responsible for providing technical expertise, analysis, and publishable products to advance the frontiers of science and address some of the most challenging problems in national security, energy, and the environment. Gather, analyze, and evaluate information from a variety of sources.
Evaluate information to determine a recommended course of action. Apply and interpret theories, principles, methods, tools, and technologies within an area of specialty. Provide domain knowledge and insight on national-level mission needs to multidisciplinary project teams comprised of scientists and engineers.
Provide the technical and programmatic leadership to develop unique, creative solutions for difficult problems of extreme importance to US national security. The incumbent will work in a diverse group of staff in support of multiple government agencies.
This position requires the candidate to have well-developed policy and related technical expertise, relationship management, project, and program management skills. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated comfort interacting with all levels of stakeholders: ground level operators, policy advisors, agency leadership, and US congress members.
The incumbent will be required to provide program and research support to chemical and nuclear sciences, nonproliferation, nuclear security policy or intelligence initiatives that address national security challenges. This is a complex problem where analyses will require evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current national trends.
The incumbent will be required to build networks at a local and capability level, as well as a national level, and effectively team with others to optimize research at the group and division level.
- The incumbent is expected to contribute to proposals, embrace quality, safety, and security expectations, and communicate the importance of these expectations within the work team.
