Overview

The Electrician Associate position is responsible consistently completing preventive and reactive/corrective electrical maintenance. Qualified candidates must possess a thorough understanding of electrical theory, industrial electricity applications, electromechanical systems such as drive trains, hydraulics, vacuum, and heat transfer to include demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Always complies with Pactiv’s established safety and environmental policies, programs, and procedures. These include but are not limited to electrical safety, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, ladder safety, machine shop/tool safety, and powered vehicle safety
  • Perform various maintenance and project related activities on industrial production and support equipment to maximize equipment life and reliability to ensure safe and cost-effective operation
  • Utilize Pactiv’s computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for daily work activity planning, labor utilization, and accurate recording of completed equipment maintenance activities (work orders)
  • Performs electrical work according to requirements of local and state building/safety codes
  • Utilize precision measuring tools/devices, hand tools, and testing instruments used in the maintenance and troubleshooting of industrial electrical systems. These include multi-meters, stethoscopes, micrometers, etc.
  • Tasked with performing or assisting with all major and minor electrical installations & repairs
  • Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5 years related experience
  • High Degree of mechanical ability and aptitude with proven ability to troubleshoot and perform repairs on electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Associate Degree/or Electrical Engineering Certificate preferred

Physical Requirements/ Environmental Conditions

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk
  • Uses hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools and controls
  • The employee frequently is required to talk and hear to communicate with crew members
  • Required to climb, stoop, bend and reach with hands and arms
  • The employee is occasionally required to push or pull with hands or arms, kneel or crouch
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to distinguish shades and colors
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with little to no supervision
  • Positive work attitude and willingness to cooperate
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • The noise level in the work environment is consistently above 85 decibels
  • Able to work with dust from paper converting process
  • The employee constantly works near moving mechanical parts and lift trucks
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or vapors or hazardous products such as degreasers and silicone sprays
  • Ambient temp and humidity may be elevated during the summer months
