Role Snapshot
Lead end-to-end plant materials flow: production scheduling, purchasing coordination, MRP accuracy, shipping, receiving, inventory control, and 3PL. This position reports to the facility Operations Manager and supervises 9 direct reports (a Shipping Lead and Shipper/Receivers). You are the plant liaison to Corporate Customer Service and the Sales & Operational Planning teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Support and assist with all Plant Safety Programs.
- Team Management: Provide leadership, training, coaching, and guidance to a 9-person logistics team.
- Scheduling & Purchasing: Coordinate production schedules and purchasing of production materials to meet customer delivery dates.
- Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner daily with the Production Scheduler, Department Managers, and Corporate Customer Service.
- Primary Contact: Serve as the plant contact for Corporate Customer Service and Sales & Operational Planning.
- MRP Ownership: Maintain the perpetual inventory system’s accuracy; evaluate and communicate systems requirements continuously.
- Reporting & Analytics: Deliver daily and monthly status reports; conduct daily systems analytics to maximize effectiveness and troubleshoot issues.
- Operations Oversight: Direct, manage, and monitor production support functions—inventory control, shipping, receiving, and materials processes.
- Inventory Health: Maintain inventory levels to consistently hit customer timelines; adjust system values for damaged, obsolete, or variance inventory.
- Supplier Coordination: Work with Purchasing and suppliers to schedule deliveries of materials, supplies, and consumables.
- Storage & Fulfillment: Manage storage for consumables and finished goods; oversee shipping, receiving, and 3PL activities.
- Cycle Governance: Establish procedures and lead quarterly physical inventories.
- Financial Partnership: Support the Plant Manager and Financial Analyst during annual budget preparation.
Workload & Travel
- Little to no travel required.
- Month-end requires active participation; timing may include weekends and holidays.
- Some evening participation outside traditional business hours.
Qualifications
- Required: 5+ years in Planning or Materials Management.
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
- Highly Preferred: BAAN software experience.
- Preferred: Experience in an industrial environment.
- Analytical aptitude; ability to generate process documentation and reports.
- Excellent communication skills; capable of translating data into actionable insights.
- History of developing innovative, impactful systems solutions.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Proficiency in Production Planning & Scheduling.
