Insurance Defense Attorney – Philadelphia, PA

L&W Recruiting is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a Philadelphia-area defense firm seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join their growing litigation team. The firm is well-known in the carrier community for efficient, aggressive defense across a range of high-exposure matters.

This is a role for an attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in their written work product, and isn't afraid of the courtroom. You'll be given real responsibility from the start — not just document review.

The Practice

The firm defends insurers and their insureds across a wide range of matters including commercial transportation, construction liability, premises and retail liability, and OSHA/regulatory defense. Cases range from routine to complex, and the team is built to handle both.

What the Role Involves

Managing an active defense docket across Philadelphia and surrounding counties.

Researching and drafting dispositive motions, coverage positions, and appellate briefs.

Taking and defending depositions of fact witnesses, medical experts, and corporate representatives.

Attending pre-trial conferences, arbitrations, mediations, and jury trials.

Providing timely, clear reporting to carrier clients and adjusters on case status and reserves.

What You Bring

2–6+ years of insurance defense or civil litigation defense experience.

Pennsylvania bar admission required; New Jersey a plus.

Strong motion practice and genuine courtroom experience.

The judgment to handle a varied docket and set the right priorities.

Clear, direct communicator — both in writing and with clients.
