L&W Recruiting, on behalf of a well‑established Mid‑Atlantic litigation defense firm, seeks a Senior Insurance Defense Attorney to join the firm’s Sewell, NJ office. This role is suited to an experienced insurance defense litigator who can independently manage a complex docket while contributing to a collaborative, team‑oriented practice.

Position overview
- Manage a full docket of insurance defense matters from intake through resolution, with primary responsibility for case strategy, client communication, and outcomes.
- Develop and implement resolution strategies tailored to the facts and risk profile of each matter, including dispositive motion practice, negotiation, alternative dispute resolution, and trial preparation.
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and other court filings with precision and timeliness.
- Conduct and defend depositions; prepare witnesses and experts for testimony; appear for hearings, arbitrations, and trials as required.
- Maintain organized case files, calendaring, and adherence to firm and client metrics for efficiency and outcome tracking.
- Collaborate with colleagues on firm‑wide litigation strategy and quality‑review processes; mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and support staff as appropriate.
Required qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) and active license to practice law in New Jersey.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of insurance defense litigation experience.
- Proven litigation skills, including deposition practice, motion drafting and practice, courtroom advocacy, and trial preparation.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex caseloads independently while working effectively within a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication, client‑management, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Commitment to professional ethics, client service, and adherence to calendaring and procedural deadlines.
Preferred qualifications
- Significant trial experience and a record of favorable pretrial and trial outcomes.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys and managing team workflows.
- Familiarity with insurance coverage issues, bad faith defense, subrogation, and related complex insurance matters.
- Experience using data‑driven case management tools and working with metrics to monitor file cycle time, fees, costs, and outcomes.
- Portable book of business is welcome but not required.
