Plastics Injection Molding Process Technician

Your day in this role

You partner with mold department supervisors, maintenance, and fellow technicians to diagnose processing issues and keep production on track. You take a preventive stance on tooling care, coordinate with outside resources to refine tooling-related techniques, and capture best practices in clear process sheets. You launch new tools, fine-tune parameters to sustain cavitation, and document the optimized settings so they can be repeated. You champion continuous improvement by assisting action teams, and you complete all required safety and operator training to maintain a safe, efficient operation. And when business needs shift, you pitch in with overtime or weekend coverage.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with supervisors, mold maintenance, and mold technicians to identify and resolve processing problems.
  • Drive preventive maintenance activities for shop tooling.
  • Coordinate with external partners to evolve tooling-related processing techniques.
  • Review and assess injection molding processes to spot opportunities for improvement and optimization.
  • Ensure molding processes are optimized, standardized, and properly documented.
  • Maintain effective mold cavitation through process control.
  • Support action teams and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the technical staff.
  • Start up new tools, develop and record process sheets, and verify stable operation.
  • Complete all required safety and operator training courses.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical schooling preferred.
  • Hands-on knowledge of the injection molding process.
  • Willingness to cover weekends and work overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to safety, learning, and ongoing development.
  • Ability to walk, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency with: plastic extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, tool/die/mold setup, and blueprint reading.

Compensation

We provide a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position in compliance with applicable laws. Actual pay is influenced by factors such as skills, experience, training, certifications, and business needs. Most hires do not start at the top of the range; each decision depends on the specific facts and circumstances. The current estimated hourly range is $20.00 to $28.00.
