Packaging Tooling Optimization Technologist

Imagine stepping up to a packaging line that supplies restaurants, grocers, and brands nationwide. You orchestrate the changeover, align tooling and materials, make precise adjustments, and bring the equipment to peak efficiency—fast. At Novolex, your expertise helps convert concepts into high‑performing runs across resin, paper, molded fiber, and aluminum platforms.

Your mission

  • Own rapid, accurate setups for all roll‑fed and inline equipment with designated materials.
  • Uplift team capability by training operators on safe, standardized setup and operation.
  • Keep knowledge current by refining training manuals and JSAs.
  • Handle routine mechanical maintenance, repairs, and PM tasks to prevent downtime.
  • Shape the future by contributing to upgrade and replacement decisions for machinery.
  • Enhance outcomes by collaborating on tooling improvements and modifications.
  • Partner with Sales and Tool Design to ensure new tooling runs efficiently on WNA equipment.
  • Work side‑by‑side with Process Engineers, leads, Maintenance, Operators, and Packers to cut setup time, boost efficiency, and reduce scrap.
  • Transition tooling from setup to production by performing all necessary machine adjustments.

Qualifications to succeed

  • Minimum 4 years in a manufacturing maintenance/mechanic/technician/tooling role.
  • Electrical experience with 480V 3‑phase and machine controls.
  • Preferred: VFD and PLC experience (Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Siemens).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing methods and process improvement programs/procedures.
  • Forklift operation experience.
  • Comfort working overtime as required; ability to juggle priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Dedication to safety, growth mindset, and completion of assigned training.

Technology you’ll leverage

  • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
  • PLCs: Fanuc, Allen Bradley, Siemens
  • Conveyors and servo‑driven systems
