Nuclear Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer — ASME Section III

Nuclear Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer — ASME Section III

Join the APX Supplier Quality Team supporting the AP1000 Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS). In this role, you’ll be the on-the-ground advocate for nuclear quality, partnering with suppliers of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel (B&PV) Code materials and components to ensure every requirement is met before parts ever reach our plants.

A day in the life

Morning begins with finalizing a supplier surveillance plan. By midday, you’re at a supplier facility conducting an assessment, confirming their quality management system can consistently deliver nuclear safety-related and ASME Section III materials that meet purchasing requirements. In the afternoon, you analyze deficiency data to pinpoint trends and initiate corrections. You close the day drafting certification documentation for a major component shipment and updating QA plan segments aligned with NRC, Westinghouse, and customer standards.

What you’ll do

  • Develop and execute supplier surveillance and oversight plans that verify adherence to technical and quality standards.
  • Lead independent assessments and ongoing oversight to confirm suppliers have established, implemented, and sustained effective quality management systems for nuclear safety-related and/or ASME B&PV Code Section III materials and components per purchasing requirements.
  • Resolve supplier quality issues that impact product quality; drive containment, root cause analysis, and sustainable corrective actions.
  • Track progress against quality goals while balancing budget and schedule constraints.
  • Create certification documents identifying the procurement requirements met by purchased materials and equipment, including applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications for major components.
  • Perform and lead assessments across the global supply base to ensure compliance with regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Evaluate supplier quality plans and processes for compliance with requirements defined by Westinghouse Engineering.
  • Apply advanced quality control and statistical methods to capture deficiency information, identify failure modes and trends, rate supplier performance, and gauge the effectiveness of supplier QA programs and internal processes.
  • Author detailed QA plan/program segments consistent with current U.S. NRC, Westinghouse, and customer QA standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
  • Implement policies defining the scope and retention of quality assurance documentation.

Where you’ll work

You will report to the Sr. Manager, Supplier Quality NSSS. This is a hybrid position based in our Cranberry Township, PA office (3 days remote). Relocation is not provided for this position.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 0–2+ years as a Supplier Quality Professional (or closely related experience).
  • Hands-on familiarity with inspection tools—calipers, gauges, micrometers—and specialized IM&TE is a plus.
  • Proficiency generating, reviewing, approving, and archiving electronic quality documents and records.
  • Willingness to travel 40–50%.
