AS/RS Mechatronics Maintenance Specialist

Can you keep an autonomous warehouse at peak performance?

If you thrive on solving tough electro‑mechanical problems and optimizing robotic systems, this role is for you. You will own the reliability of Symbotic’s automated adapters, vertical lifts, and a fleet of automated robotic vehicles, becoming the go‑to expert across mechanical, PLC, electrical, and electronic subsystems.

What you'll own

  • End-to-end inspections for AS/RS equipment, adapters, lifts, and robotic vehicles.
  • Continuous operation: adjustments, calibrations, repairs, replacements, and component modifications.
  • Flow management of adapters for manual inbound, automatic inbound, and automatic outbound to maximize cases per hour.
  • Root-cause troubleshooting of anomalies and stoppages using schematics, wiring diagrams, and advanced test equipment.
  • Scheduled system audits and time-based inspections with complete CMMS documentation (parts, labor, actions).
  • Clear communication of production-impacting events and estimated corrective/emergency maintenance windows.
  • Automated robotic vehicle recovery in the Symbotic Matrix select system, including within restrictive environments.
  • Minor fabrication/utility work: machining holes, fabricating brackets, cutting steel, aligning sensors, attaching Unistrut.
  • Robotic arm setup, calibration, and tool changes.
  • 5S adherence and work-area cleanup; ability to step into Cell Operator duties as needed.
  • Other tasks assigned by leadership.

Bring this experience

  • Associate degree/certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • 3+ years with mechanical automation systems or comparable education/training.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and ability to interpret electro‑mechanical diagrams.
  • Hands-on PLC knowledge and troubleshooting; experience operating automated systems.
  • Proficiency in inspection functions and independent work using procedures and manuals.

Tools and systems you'll use

  • CMMS for rigorous maintenance records.
  • Schematics, wiring diagrams, and advanced test equipment for diagnostics.

Where you'll work (and physical realities)

  • Inside structures with steep stair access and railings high off the ground.
  • Temperature exposure: 32°F to 105°F (weather-protected but not temperature-controlled).
  • Construction environments may require PPE: hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eye/ear protection, and fall protection (e.g., safety harness).
  • Lift up to 50 lbs frequently; move up to 80 lbs safely and efficiently.
  • Stand/walk up to 10–12 hours; frequent reaching with hands/arms.
  • Work at heights up to 45 feet and in restrictive spaces down to 24 inches; climb/balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Perform tasks requiring feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement with both hands and feet.
  • Follow all safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout and fall protection.
