Tool Maintenance Specialist

I. Job Description:

The Tool Maintenance Specialist is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and optimization of tools and injection molds to ensure efficient production operations. This role supports manufacturing by minimizing downtime, maintaining safety compliance, and ensuring tooling performance meets quality standards.

II. Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular inspections and perform preventive maintenance on tools and injection molds, including cleaning, lubricating, calibrating, and assessing overall condition.

  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning or damaged tools and molds by replacing parts, correcting mechanical issues, and reprogramming computerized systems as needed.

  • Maintain inventory of tools, spare parts, and equipment to ensure availability for repairs and replacements.

  • Recommend replacement of outdated or worn tools and equipment to improve safety, efficiency, and reliability.

  • Ensure all tools and molds comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements, including inspection for hazards such as worn handles, damaged wiring, or faulty components.

  • Provide training and guidance to employees on proper use, care, and maintenance of tools and equipment to prevent misuse or damage.

  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, tooling modifications, and inspection results accurately and timely.

  • Collaborate with production teams to coordinate tooling maintenance schedules that align with production priorities and minimize downtime.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve daily tooling and machine-related issues to ensure continuous operations.

  • Coordinate outsourced or customer tooling maintenance, ensuring external vendors meet quality expectations and deadlines.

  • Track tooling cycle counts and other key performance metrics to maintain accurate records and optimize tool utilization.

  • Assist with machine shop activities as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support continuous improvement initiatives within tooling and maintenance processes.

• III. Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Per requirements in our ITAR-regulated government contract, this position is restricted to U.S. persons (U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees, and refugees) due to the need to access controlled technology. Noble will not apply or manage the required export license.

  • High school diploma or GED or related field preferred.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a production team environment.

  • Manufacturing/industrial setting.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Must adhere to all safety protocols and PPE requirements.

  • Must successfully pass pre-employment requirements.

  • Must sign and comply with a confidentiality agreement.
