Granite Surface Lapping Specialist

Location: Waite Park, MN

Schedule: 6:00 am - 2:00 pm, Monday - Friday

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

A day in this role

Your shift begins at 6:00 am. You review blueprints and work orders to understand tolerances and the sequence of steps. You prepare and clean granite components, then create precision surfaces using lapping plates or automated finishing equipment so parts are ready for assembly. Throughout the day, you lift and position pieces manually or by using hoists, cranes, or forklifts, ensuring everything is secured on tables or stands for safe, accurate processing. Before parts move on, you verify conformance using instruments such as levels, height gauges, amps, a Mikrokator, repeat reading gage, Pentaprism, lasers, or autocollimators (training provided). Quality for both the customer and the company guides each decision you make.

What you will do

• Prepare, clean, and assemble granite components across a range of sizes.
• Generate precision surfaces via lapping plates or automated finishing systems.
• Follow blueprints, work orders, and instructions to determine specifications and sequences.
• Lift, move, and secure work pieces using manual methods or hoists, cranes, and forklifts.
• Assist with measurements and final checks to confirm parts meet required specifications.

What you bring

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work orders.
• Familiarity with precision measuring devices is a plus; training is available.
• High school diploma or equivalent experience.
• Approximately 1 year of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Comfort with basic arithmetic and geometry concepts is helpful.
