CNC Turret Punch Technician

Shape precision parts with a machine you know and love

When your shift begins, you’ll dial in the turret, verify punches and dies, and bring prints to life. You’ll align raw material to scales and end gauges, clamp it down, set indicators on the forward and lateral scales, and rotate to the right tool station at the touch of a button. Pedal down, clean hits—then repeat through the full program. Between runs, you’ll touch off with the center punch and lightly scribe layout lines to confirm locations before continuing.

What you’ll tackle day-to-day

  • Install, align, and lock punches and dies in the turret; position and secure the workpiece on the machine table.
  • Index the turret to specified punch/die sets; set machine indicators to required dimensions; actuate the punch via foot pedal for each programmed setup.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and operation sheets to determine process steps; compute punch charts from drawings.
  • Punch holes in nonmetallic materials as required by the job.
  • Perform in-process inspections using dial/vernier calipers, micrometers, squares, and height gauges per AQL and work instructions; escalate dimensional or set-up issues to a supervisor or set-up technician.
  • Track good and scrap counts accurately; complete production paperwork and enter data in the company database, including the Traverse Manufacturing System.
  • Keep tools, gages, and equipment clean and organized; report equipment problems immediately; maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
