Our Client is a start-up game dev studio with a team of extraordinary, motivated professionals from all over the world. They are building a Multiplayer, Hack & Slash, Action video game with Sandbox elements, and team-based Puzzles.
The team consists of 10+ persons: 2D character concept artists, 3D Environment and Character artist, Character Animator, Music Composers. They discuss their work and help each other out. They have already found business advisors who have decided to support them in their journey.
They are on the stage of getting funds and it is very important to be fully staffed, so to make a demo version of the game.
Project - Realms of Eternity. The project will include the development and the promotion of the different elements of the game, such as music, art, and story development as a separate component of the game project. Artists and game developers will have the chance to promote their work and gain additional popularity and income.
They already have a Founder, who is CEO at the same time, and he is responsible for the following:
- Developing the basic idea for the project. It already exists and the project is under development
- Writing the blog and the marketing copy that goes on the site (unless your professional background suggests otherwise)
- Coming up with most of the features of the game
- Having a spreadsheet with the budget estimates
- Paying the basic business expenses like printing business cards, web hosting
- Pitching to investors
- Connecting with the target industry, providing introductions to potential customers, journalists and influencers
- Working full time before the project is funded (but you are strongly encouraged to)
- Taking care of the sales
- Taking of 2D art, 3D art, Rigging, Animation, Game Design, Level Design, Story Writing, Music, etc.
But, they have no strong technical guy, who will manage the technical part of the project. So, we are in search of a Technical Co-Founder.
Position Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled CTO to help to develop a video game and add value to the project. You will be responsible for operational technology, maximizing, and leading programming team potential.
To be successful in this role, you should have previous experience with Unreal Engine 4 and can handle the multiplayer aspect of the game. You should also be able to work remotely. Our ideal candidate combines excellent technical skills with a strategic mindset, who has incorporated or managed at least one company.
Responsibilities:
- To do most of the coding
- To display extreme dedication towards the project
- To display proactive behavior; predict and solve problems before they occur
- To solve already existing problems
- To work closely with the leads of every department
- To manage the programming department and everyone in it
- To be required to get familiar with the business aspect of the project
- To be working part-time on the project before it gets funded and to be required to work full time (maybe even overtime) while the company is pitching for funding or when it is funded
Requirements:
- Can spend 5+ hours a day before the fund
- Can spend 8+ hours a day during and after the fund
- Must know the industry well
- 4+ years of experience with Unreal multiplayer games
- Can use C++ and Blueprints
- Can write both server and client-side code for real-time multiplayer games
- Led project(s) before
- Has incorporated or managed at least one company. The company still functions or has a successful exit
- Advanced English
