The Role

As a Production Welder I, you’ll be at the heart of carbody fabrication—joining, aligning, and assembling carbon and stainless-steel structures that become best-in-class rail vehicles. You will thrive in a dynamic, high-energy production setting where precision, safety, and quality define success.

A Day in the Life

  • Interpret blueprints, parts lists, sketches, and verbal guidance to perform manual and mechanized welding and repetitive assembly operations.
  • Build routine welded components—subassemblies and mounted parts—with consistent accuracy.
  • Perform visual inspections and follow established quality checks to meet exacting standards.

Schedule

Monday–Thursday, 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or state-recognized GED, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • A practical welding test is required for all candidates.
  • Preferred familiarity with torch and plasma equipment.
  • General mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings and verify dimensions.
  • Basic written and spoken English communication.

Physical Demands

  • Frequent walking; reaching; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling.
  • Frequent climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
  • Frequent work on elevated platforms.
  • Occasional lifting and moving up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision needs include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Compensation

Hourly rate in Lexington, NC: $20.00 – $22.51. Actual rate may vary based on budget as well as your experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
