The Role
As a Production Welder I, you’ll be at the heart of carbody fabrication—joining, aligning, and assembling carbon and stainless-steel structures that become best-in-class rail vehicles. You will thrive in a dynamic, high-energy production setting where precision, safety, and quality define success.
A Day in the Life
- Interpret blueprints, parts lists, sketches, and verbal guidance to perform manual and mechanized welding and repetitive assembly operations.
- Build routine welded components—subassemblies and mounted parts—with consistent accuracy.
- Perform visual inspections and follow established quality checks to meet exacting standards.
Schedule
Monday–Thursday, 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
- A practical welding test is required for all candidates.
- Preferred familiarity with torch and plasma equipment.
- General mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to read manufacturing drawings and verify dimensions.
- Basic written and spoken English communication.
Physical Demands
- Frequent walking; reaching; stooping; kneeling; crouching; or crawling.
- Frequent climbing of stairs, steps, and ladders.
- Frequent work on elevated platforms.
- Occasional lifting and moving up to 40 pounds.
- Vision needs include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Compensation
Hourly rate in Lexington, NC: $20.00 – $22.51. Actual rate may vary based on budget as well as your experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
