Join our production team to keep critical tooling operating at peak performance. You will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair dies and tooling that keep our manufacturing lines moving. From translating complex specifications into precise layouts, to machining and fitting components, you’ll ensure parts meet exacting standards every time.
You start your shift by reviewing blueprints, sketches, and models to understand materials, dimensions, and sequencing. You plan layouts, calculate dimensions, and mark and scribe metal stock. You set up and run lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders to machine new or replacement components, verifying results as you go. On the surface plate or worktable, you position and secure parts, fit and assemble mechanisms, and smooth flat or contoured surfaces using power grinders. When needed, you heat treat tools or parts to achieve the required hardness.
Throughout the night, you examine standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures, recommending design tweaks to improve performance. You troubleshoot tooling concerns to protect part quality, always following safety procedures and company policies. Precision measurement is constant—calipers, micrometers, gauge pins and blocks, and other metrology tools are your companions as you verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
