Polymer Compounding Blender Technician

Shape What’s Next as a Polymer Compounding Blender Technician

Step into our 2nd shift (2:45 PM – 11:00 PM) and run a critical link in our operation: safely blending, packaging, and moving materials that become finished products for our customers. You’ll follow precise batch card instructions, keep a sharp eye on codes and weights, and keep production flowing by coordinating with adjacent teams.

A day in the role

  • Start by reviewing the production schedule and batch cards; stage the required raw materials and verify lot numbers and weights.
  • Before any charge, inspect and clean the blender to ensure it’s ready for the next compound run.
  • Confirm all TA item code numbers for materials to be charged.
  • Charge all “hand adds” exactly as specified by the blender batch card.
  • Document every staged material’s lot number on the batch card; report and record any deviation from procedure immediately.
  • Coordinate blender output with other areas to maintain flow and meet downstream needs.
  • Follow customer packaging instructions; ensure every unit is packed, labeled, weighed, sealed, and compliant. Escalate any schedule change, instruction conflict, or potential issue to the Bagger Leadman.
  • Generate labels, align them correctly, and apply them cleanly to containers.
  • Perform changeovers on packaging equipment quickly, safely, and with thorough cleanup; confirm readiness with mill area operators after changeover.
  • Prepare packaging materials ahead of the next runs and shifts (e.g., Gaylords, Supersacks).
  • Scan and enter finished goods into the computer system for accurate inventory and traceability.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and always wear required PPE.
  • Aim to meet or surpass plant KPIs and actively support Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Learn the Line 4 Blending area and be ready to fill in on other assignments when needed.

What you bring

  • Ability to read and comprehend English and apply solid math skills on the job.
  • Capability to drive (or learn to drive) a forklift and operate an electric hand truck.
