Haas VMC CNC Milling Machinist (3–4 Axis)

  • Greenwood, IN
  • 24 - 30 USD Hourly

Shape precision parts on Haas VMCs in Greenwood, IN

Picture your day: you clock in at our temperature-controlled Greenwood facility, grab your setup sheet, and step up to a Haas 3- or 4-axis vertical machining center. You review the blueprint, tool list, and control settings, build out the tooling, verify fixtures, and run a careful prove-out (with supervisor approval). From there, you’re into production—cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching both metallic and nonmetallic parts—keeping a close eye on feeds, speeds, and coolant to hold spec. If anything drifts, you diagnose, adjust, and keep the work moving.

We offer 1st or 2nd shift options, a close-knit team that looks out for one another, and real paths to grow your skills and career.

What you’ll take on

  • Interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and technical data to determine tooling, setup, control settings, and machining sequence.
  • Prepare all tools and verify fixture setups meet quality standards for sizes, depths, angles, and other specifications.
  • Mount, align, and secure tooling, attachments, and workpieces; assemble cutting tools in holders and load holders into machine magazines.
  • Load control media—such as tape, card, or disk—into the controller or retrieve preprogrammed instructions from a database.
  • Calculate and set machine controls to position the spindle relative to the workpiece and regulate depth of cut, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
  • Conduct prove-outs and perform manual programming during setups only when approved by the Supervisor.
  • Start machines and monitor displays/operation to detect malfunctions.
  • Stop machines to change tools or setups per the required sequence, or to measure parts to blueprint specifications.
  • Enter commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions.
  • Operate machines manually for non-automated functions or when automatic programming is faulty or a malfunction occurs.
  • Collaborate with supervisors or programming personnel to resolve control media errors.
  • Clean machines, tooling, and parts; perform routine machine maintenance as needed.
  • Follow company policies and safety procedures; wear PPE per safety and training guidelines.
