Industrial Rail and Yard Equipment Operator
Location: Cambria, WI
Schedule: Day shift, 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (2-2-3 rotation)
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: $25–$30 per hour, based on experience
Your day in the seat
At Didion, every shift starts with precision. You’ll check your equipment, review priorities on our digital tools, and then set the pace for the yard. One hour you may be positioning a locomotive and moving railcars with care; the next you’re supporting trailer movements, coordinating loadouts, and keeping the flow of high-quality food products on schedule—all while maintaining strict food safety and workplace safety standards.
What you’ll operate and move
- Locomotives and yard trucks for rail and on-site logistics
- Railcars and trailers, maneuvered with accuracy
- Food-grade loads, prepared, loaded, and shipped with pride
Core responsibilities
- Operate and inspect heavy equipment to ensure safe, reliable performance
- Support truck and rail loadouts to meet delivery timelines
- Perform conductor/grounds duties in the rail yard
- Clean, maintain, and stage equipment so it’s always ready
- Use technology to track schedules, work orders, and maintenance
- Follow food safety and workplace safety procedures without compromise
What you bring
- High school diploma or GED (technical training a plus)
- Hands-on experience with locomotives or yard trucks preferred
- Background in manufacturing or food-safe environments is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently
- Team-first mindset, reliability, and a strong work ethic
Physical and environmental expectations
- Comfort working around noise, dust, heat, and cold
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb stairs/ladders
- Capability to work at heights over 20 feet and in confined spaces
- Clear communication over 2-way radio and adherence to safety protocols
