CNC Machine Tool Field Service Specialist

A day in the life

You start from home, coffee in hand, scanning your service schedule on a company-provided laptop. Your territory is local, and you could be based in Sioux Falls, Minneapolis, or Kansas City, with much of your work focused on customers across the Dakotas market. You head out in your own vehicle (with a car allowance, or a company vehicle in some cases), phone synced, fuel covered, and reimbursement handled quickly so you can stay focused on the work.

By mid-morning, you’re completing a preventive maintenance visit on a CNC machining center. After lunch, you’re diagnosing a hydraulic issue on a turning center, collaborating with the customer and coordinating next steps. You close out the day by documenting your work, advising on parts and future service, and touching base with the team. Travel averages about 50% and is paid—but this is not a national road-warrior role. It’s local, relationship-driven, and full of variety.

What you’ll handle

  • Hands-on field service for CNC machine tools: installs, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Resolve customer issues and partner with sales on technical support when needed.
  • Communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders on site and within the company.
  • Represent Ellison Technologies with professionalism and integrity in every interaction.
  • Own your service cases and projects end-to-end; maintain customer records and technical documentation.
  • Pitch in on other related duties as assigned.

What you bring

  • Background installing, maintaining, and repairing CNC machining centers and CNC turning centers.
  • Well-developed troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
