Structural Steel Fabrication Specialist

Taurus Staffing is hiring in Chattanooga, TN for a hands-on fabricator who thrives on turning drawings into precise, finished steel assemblies. This temp-to-perm opportunity places you at the center of structural steel work—especially stair and handrail builds—where fit-up quality and welding accuracy define your day.

A day in the shop

You’ll start by reviewing technical drawings and specifications, mapping out the day’s priorities, and setting up your station. From there, you’ll lay out structural members, execute accurate fit-ups, and perform production welding on a variety of components. Throughout the shift, you’ll verify measurements, check tolerances, and keep quality at the forefront. When needed, you’ll pivot to help with modifications and collaborate with teammates to keep builds on schedule.

Schedule & employment type

• Temp-to-perm position
• Five days per week, 10-hour shifts
• Some Saturdays required
• Willingness to work long hours and maintain a punctual, reliable schedule

What you’ll handle

• Perform fitting, welding, and modification on various materials and assemblies
• Interpret and apply technical drawings and specifications to real-world builds
• Carry out accurate structural steel layout and fit-up, with emphasis on stairs and handrails
• Maintain tight tolerances and consistent, high-quality workmanship

Skills & experience

• Minimum 2 years in fabrication, welding, or a closely related field
• Proven background in structural steel layout and fit-up
• Hands-on stair and handrail fabrication experience
• Experience operating a Plasma Table or CNC press brake is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
