Principal Dimensional Quality Specialist — Multi‑Axis Machining

Role snapshot

• Hands‑on inspection leader embedded on the production floor.
• Owns verification of complex geometries, microfinishes (16 Ra and below), and critical dimensions to tenths (.0001").
• Partners with machinists, programmers, and engineering to prevent defects at the source.
• Documents results rigorously and drives continuous improvement.

Core duties

• Execute first piece, in‑process, and final inspections on precision CNC parts.
• Interpret blueprints and GD&T; compare to engineering specs and customer requirements.
• Use optical comparators, profilometers/surface finish testers, height/bore/thread gauges, micrometers, calipers, and related metrology.
• Confirm microfinish and dimensional compliance; record inspection data and maintain quality reports.
• Identify nonconformances, support root cause analysis, and assist in corrective actions.
• Support FAIs, capability studies, and customer documentation packages.

Minimum qualifications

• 5+ years in precision CNC inspection.
• Track record with tight‑tolerance parts and complex features.
• Advanced blueprint reading and GD&T comprehension.
• Proficiency with advanced metrology and precision gauges.
• Detail‑driven mindset and commitment to zero‑defect quality.
• Comfortable working shoulder‑to‑shoulder with machinists and engineers on the floor.

Preferred background

• FARO arm operation/programming.
• Experience inspecting microfinishes down to 16 Ra and below.
• Exposure to ISO 9001 or AS9100 environments.
• Hands‑on CNC machining or setup experience.
