Fleet Maintenance Lead Technician — Gas & Diesel

Job Site Repair (Mahtomedi) is a family-run shop founded in 1989. We’re seeking a Fleet Maintenance Lead Technician who prefers a wrench in one hand and a plan in the other. If you love diagnosing tough issues, mentoring techs, and owning the workflow, let’s talk.

What will you work on?

• Medium-duty diesel trucks
• Gas trucks
• Fleet vehicles like step vans and box trucks

How will you lead?

• Set priorities and assign repairs to keep the board moving
• Perform diesel and automotive repairs plus scheduled PMs
• Use scan tools and software to find and fix electrical/mechanical faults
• Jump in on complex troubleshooting and guide teammates
• Evaluate units, verify repairs with testing, and note future needs
• Coordinate parts sourcing, orders, and vendor communications
• Update customers and ownership with clear timelines and recommendations
• Ensure safety-critical inspections are completed
• Coach for quality and efficiency; maintain an organized, safe shop
• Keep tools and equipment in proper, safe operating condition
• Other duties as assigned

When will you work?

• Monday–Friday
• Evening shift: 5:00 PM–2:00 AM
• No weekends

Do you fit?

• 7+ years of hands-on automotive and/or diesel repair experience
• Experience with medium-duty platforms, gas/diesel powertrains, and fleets
• Previous foreman, lead tech, or supervisor experience preferred
• Exceptional electrical and mechanical diagnostic ability
• Track record of prioritizing tickets, assigning jobs, and driving throughput
• Leader who supports, trains, and develops mechanics
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently
• Strong communicator with employees, customers, vendors, and ownership
• Safety-first mindset and top-notch workmanship
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass a background check
