L&W Recruiting, on behalf of a leading national law firm with offices across the United States, seeks a Plaintiff's Attorney focusing on asbestos/mesothelioma litigation to join its San Fransico Bay Area team. This role involves representing individuals affected by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases and contributing to a collaborative litigation practice.
Location: San Francisco Bay Area
Position summary: The successful candidate will manage plaintiff-side asbestos/mesothelioma matters through all phases of litigation, advocate for clients in hearings and trials as needed, and work closely with colleagues to develop case strategy and achieve favorable outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of asbestos/mesothelioma and related plaintiff-side personal injury matters from intake through resolution.
- Perform factual and legal investigation, including review of medical records, employment histories, and exposure evidence.
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, settlement documents, and other court filings.
- Conduct and defend depositions; prepare witnesses and experts for testimony.
- Handle hearings, case management conferences, and trial preparation and appearances.
- Develop litigation strategy, participate in case planning and settlement negotiations, and coordinate with co-counsel and experts.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with clients, medical providers, and case stakeholders; maintain organized case files and meet calendaring and procedural deadlines.
- Collaborate with colleagues and provide mentorship as appropriate to support firm objectives and client service.
Required qualifications:
- Active license to practice law in California.
- Preferably a minimum of 2+ years of direct experience in mesothelioma or asbestos litigation; applicants with plaintiff-side experience in medical malpractice, product liability, construction defect, premises liability, or other personal injury litigation will be considered.
- Demonstrated litigation skills, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, and courtroom experience.
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, client-management abilities, and ethical professionalism.
Preferred qualifications:
- Trial experience or significant courtroom exposure in plaintiff-side matters.
- Experience coordinating with medical experts and managing complex medical and exposure evidence.
- Demonstrated commitment to client advocacy and professional development within a collaborative firm environment.
