Quality Systems & Compliance Engineer (AS9100)

Step into the role

Imagine starting your day on the shop floor, checking in with QC Inspectors, reviewing the daily quality boards, and scanning for any safety or environmental risks that need immediate attention. You move from a quick in-process audit to a data review on dimensional integrity, then huddle with a production supervisor when a defect appears. By afternoon, you’re refining a Quality Management System (QMS) process for the team, coaching new teammates on inspection techniques, and closing the loop on a customer concern using 8D and 5 Why analysis. That’s a typical day for our Quality Systems & Compliance Engineer.

What you’ll do

  • Champion a safe workplace—react quickly to identified safety and environmental risks and model adherence to all company safety regulations.
  • Coach and train new team members on safety guidelines within the department.
  • Build inspection capability—train production staff and QC Inspectors on quality standards and inspection methods; regularly audit their work.
  • Direct and supervise employees responsible for product measurement, inspection, and testing.
  • Develop and execute processes within Reading’s Quality Management System for the quality team.
  • Use statistical analysis and product specifications to set and validate standards for quality and reliability, including dimensional accuracy.
  • Own the visual factory for quality—keep daily quality boards current and meaningful across all key metrics.
  • Conduct in-process audits; when defects occur, align with the production supervisor on standards and specification requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement to protect the integrity of Reading’s product quality, manufacturing, certification, and release activities.
  • Audit final inspection to confirm every unit meets customer requirements and Reading engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
  • Lead and assist problem-solving using 8D, 5 Why, and other root-cause methods to prevent recurrence.
  • Investigate and help resolve customer quality issues and complaints.
  • Support and participate in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the rollout and sustainment of Reading’s QMS.
  • Perform other duties as required or directed by management.

  • AS9100 knowledge and experience
