CAM Programmer — Swiss, Mill‑Turn, and Multi‑Axis Grinding

A day in the life

You kick off the day refining toolpaths that push toward “Best in Class” cycle times and part quality. You’ll bounce from programming a 4‑axis mill to dialing in a Swiss lathe, then support a first‑time run on a multi‑axis grinder. Along the way, you’ll select tooling and fixturing, generate clear setup sheets, and partner with operations to keep productivity high. When a new design lands, you’ll collaborate with New Product and Sustaining engineering to lock in stable processes and drive continuous improvement.

What you’ll own

• Create and maintain CNC programs for 4‑axis mills, Swiss‑style lathes, mill‑turns, and multi‑axis grinders, including tooling and fixturing selection.
• Directly support and set up first‑time runs to validate programs and processes.
• Troubleshoot with operations to resolve issues and sustain high productivity; assist in training operators on machining fundamentals.
• Work with New Product and Sustaining engineering teams to establish best practices, stabilize processes, and execute continuous improvement initiatives.
• Author and update CNC machining setup sheets for new and existing programs and products.
• Manage and update the DNC database; maintain, modify, and analyze related documentation.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Deep understanding of Swiss lathes, chucker lathes, machining centers, Wire EDM, and/or grinders.
• Organized, quality‑focused mindset with a drive to be “Best in Class.”
• Lead‑by‑example approach on the floor and in cross‑functional settings.
• Hands‑on experience with CAD/CAM such as Mastercam, Esprit, PartMaker, Anca Toolroom, SolidWorks, and Unigraphics/Siemens NX.
• Comfort with CNC‑related software plus Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Proficiency in GD&T, CNC programming, G‑code, and M‑code.
