Founding Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Role

A seed-stage AI startup in the insurtech space is hiring a Founding Forward Deployed Engineer to bridge deep engineering work with a strong customer focus. You'll own the full technical journey — from first demo to production deployment — working hands-on with insurance carriers, TPAs, and their partners to implement AI agents, build integrations, and tune systems. This is a high-impact role that sits at the intersection of engineering and customer success, directly driving value realization for every customer you touch.

What You'll Do

• Own the end-to-end technical relationship with customers, tailoring AI agents to fit their specific claims workflows.
• Build custom integrations, APIs, and automated workflows connecting voice AI and document agents to customer systems (CMS, CRM, IVR, data warehouses, and custom apps).
• Perform AI tuning including prompt engineering and agent behavior refinement based on real-world usage and feedback.
• Gather insights from customer engagements and channel them back to product and engineering to influence the roadmap.
• Provide technical consulting on AI agent design, workflow automation, and system integration decisions.
• Manage multiple customer implementations simultaneously, prioritizing and delivering under tight timelines without sacrificing quality.

What We're Looking For

Required:

• 1–3 years of experience building or implementing technical solutions in a solutions engineering, forward deployed engineering, technical consulting, or early full-stack engineering capacity.
• Customer-facing experience in a B2B SaaS, banking, or consulting environment.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript for building integrations.
• Solid experience with API integrations, REST APIs, webhooks, and data flow across systems.
• Hands-on AI/LLM experience or credible side projects using AI tools.
• Strong communication and presentation skills — comfortable explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Technical undergraduate degree (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Quantitative Finance) or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to thrive in a fast-moving, early-stage startup environment.

Nice to Have:

• Degree from a top-50 US university.
• Prior experience in insurtech or financial services technology.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $120,000 – $200,000 USD annually, depending on experience.
• Visa sponsorship is available.

Location

This role is based on-site in New York, NY. Candidates should be prepared to work in-office.
