Plant Electrical Technician – CMMS & Preventive Maintenance
Where: St. Charles, IL
When: 1st Shift, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
Pay: $38.15–$47.02 per hour
Role snapshot
- Keep industrial equipment reliable through disciplined preventive and corrective electrical work
- Partner with production to minimize downtime and support safe, cost-effective operations
- Document everything in Pactiv’s CMMS—from planning to closeout
What you’ll do
- Follow Pactiv safety and environmental programs: electrical safety, LOTO, PPE, ladder, machine/tool, and powered industrial vehicle protocols
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components—from minor fixes to major projects
- Troubleshoot electromechanical issues involving drive trains, hydraulics, vacuum, and heat transfer
- Use precision and test instruments (multimeters, micrometers, stethoscopes, and more) to diagnose and verify
- Perform work in line with local and state building/safety codes
- Plan daily work, track labor, and record maintenance activities in the CMMS
- Take on other assigned tasks that support safe and efficient plant operations
Must-haves
- At least 5 years of related industrial electrical experience
- Mechanical aptitude with proven troubleshooting across electrical and mechanical equipment
- Basic computer literacy and experience using maintenance systems
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork; able to work with little supervision
- Associate degree or Electrical Engineering Certificate preferred
Work environment and physical requirements
- Regularly stand and walk; frequently communicate with crew members
- Use hands/fingers to handle tools, parts, and controls; climb, stoop, bend, and reach
- Occasional pushing/pulling with hands or arms; kneeling or crouching
- Lift/move up to 20 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Close vision and ability to distinguish shades and colors
- Positive attitude; able to work independently and in a team setting
- Noise levels consistently above 85 dB; frequent work near moving machinery and lift trucks
- Work with dust from paper converting; occasional exposure to fumes/vapors and products like degreasers and silicone sprays
- Higher ambient temperatures and humidity during summer months
