Founding Product Designer

About the Role

A fast-growing fintech startup is hiring its first Founding Product Designer to build the design practice from the ground up. You'll own the end-to-end customer experience for a collaborative finance platform — shaping how users onboard, verify their identity, send money, and manage shared funds together. This is a high-impact, high-ownership role at the earliest stage of a company backed by experienced fintech operators.

What You'll Do

• Build the product design function from scratch, establishing processes, systems, and standards.
• Shape the customer experience across the full user journey — onboarding, identity flows, sending and managing money, and critical edge cases.
• Lead design across discovery, prototyping, user research, and high-fidelity execution.
• Partner closely with founders and engineers to translate product vision into polished, intuitive interfaces.

What We're Looking For

• Required: 2+ years of experience in a product design role.
• Required: Experience designing fintech or payments products, including onboarding and money movement flows.
• Familiarity with design-focused AI tools and a perspective on how they will shape day-to-day design work.
• Strong design fundamentals and problem-solving skills; formal design education is a plus but not required.
• Must be based in California.

This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA. Visa sponsorship is available.
