Solar O&M Field Repair Specialist (Utility Ground-Mount)

Pay: $30 / Hour

What you’ll do

  • Execute backsheet and string connector repairs per SOPs, including cold soldering.
  • Set up job sites efficiently: staging tools, arranging power, and preparing materials.
  • Operate equipment such as Honda 2200W generators, voltage transformers, and solder stations.
  • Use hand tools including hook and pick tools, flat screwdrivers, putty knives, soldering irons, and cutters.
  • Conduct reliability testing and verify successful repairs.
  • Work primarily at ground level; use short ladders (about 10’–12’) when needed.
  • Perform all work on de-energized arrays with low voltage exposure (~40–50 VDC).
  • Handle materials such as solder tin wire, silicone glue for PV modules, and repair tapes.
  • Document each task thoroughly and submit comprehensive reports.

Safety and standards

  • Comply with all company safety procedures and SOPs.
  • Wear required PPE: helmets, cut-proof gloves, safety shoes, snake gaiters.
  • Understand and follow de-energizing and re-energizing processes for varied site designs.

What you’ll bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational electrical/solar training preferred.
  • Prior solar/electrical repair or similar technical experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with field-repair tools and materials listed in our SOPs.
  • Basic electrical safety and troubleshooting skills.
  • Physical capability for ground-level work and occasional ladder use.
  • Valid driver’s license; able to operate company or rental vehicles.
  • Willingness to travel frequently with overnight stays.
  • Strong English proficiency preferred for clear safety and work instruction communication.

Working conditions

  • 95%+ of work on utility ground-mount systems at ground level
  • Minimal rooftop work
  • Outdoor environments; variable weather conditions
  • Hands-on, tool-intensive tasks with frequent movement around field sites
