Material Handler/Shipping & Receiving

The 2nd Shift Material Handler - Shipping & Receiving is responsible for supporting the flow of materials throughout Argon Industries, including receiving, inventory movement, production support, shipping preparation, and staging of finished goods. This position helps ensure materials and finished products are accurately received, identified, moved, stored, staged, and prepared for shipment while maintaining inventory accuracy and a safe, organized workplace. The position works closely with Shipping, Receiving, Production, Inventory, and Quality to support second-shift operations and ensure material is available where and when it is needed.

Position Responsibilities

•

Receive inbound materials, supplies, hardware, components, and customer-supplied material; verify quantities and documentation and report discrepancies.

•

Unload incoming trucks and safely move material to designated receiving, inventory, WIP, or production locations.

•

Move WIP and finished goods between production, inventory, staging, and shipping areas based on operational priorities.

•

Pick, stage, and prepare material required for production and customer orders.

•

Support second-shift shipping activities by preparing completed orders for the next scheduled pickup or delivery.

•

Verify part numbers, quantities, customer information, and required documentation before staging material for shipment.

•

Package, palletize, shrink-wrap, band, and otherwise secure finished goods as required for safe transportation.

•

Load and unload trucks using forklifts and other approved material-handling equipment.

•

Maintain accurate inventory locations and complete required ERP/system transactions when materials are received, moved, issued, or staged.

•

Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, inventory audits, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.

•

Maintain proper FIFO/material rotation when applicable.

•

Empty scrap bins and recycling containers according to material type and established procedures.

•

Maintain clean and organized shipping, receiving, warehouse, staging, and material-handling areas.

•

Perform required forklift and equipment inspections and report equipment or safety concerns immediately.

•

Follow established work instructions, safety requirements, quality procedures, and company policies.

•

Communicate material shortages, receiving discrepancies, damaged material, shipping concerns, or other issues to the appropriate supervisor or manager.

•

Coordinate with Production and Shipping to identify priority or hot orders and help prevent material-related delays.

•

Complete daily inventory/material inspections and required documentation or logbook entries.

•

Assist other departments with material movement and operational needs as directed.

•

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Position Qualifications

•

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

•

Previous material handling, shipping, receiving, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred.

•

ERP or inventory-management system experience preferred.

•

Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

•

Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.

•

Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple responsibilities during second shift.

•

Strong communication and teamwork skills and the ability to work with a sense of urgency in a manufacturing environment.

•

Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. on a regular basis and to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform material-handling activities throughout the shift.

•

Must be able to operate a stand-up and sit-down forklift; appropriate certification/training
