Seeking a skilled, detail-oriented Stain and Glaze Dental Technician to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will specialize in the staining, glazing, finishing, and quality control of fixed and implant-supported restorations and will work collaboratively with technicians and clinicians to deliver esthetic, functional prostheses.
Key responsibilities:
- Apply stains, glazes, and characterization to ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal, zirconia, and composite restorations to achieve accurate shade and esthetics per prescription and shade records.
- Operate and maintain porcelain ovens, furnaces, and related laboratory equipment; follow specified firing cycles and document process parameters.
- Perform finishing, polishing, and final surface treatments to meet clinical and laboratory quality standards.
- Inspect restorations for fit, margins, contacts, color consistency, surface texture, and overall esthetics prior to final delivery.
- Interpret laboratory work orders and prescriptions; collaborate with restorative technicians and clinicians to resolve shade and esthetic questions.
- Maintain accurate case documentation, shade photographs/records, and production logs in the laboratory management system.
- Adhere to laboratory quality control, infection prevention, and safety protocols; perform routine preventive maintenance of equipment and manage consumable inventory related to stain and glaze processes.
Minimum qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in dental laboratory technology with specific experience in stain, glaze, and ceramic finishing.
- Demonstrated manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and strong attention to color and detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment.
- Reliable time management and ability to manage multiple cases to meet production schedules.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with fixed prosthetics (crowns, bridges, veneers) and implant-supported restorations.
- Familiarity with digital workflows, CAD/CAM outputs, and lab management systems.
- Two or more years of laboratory experience focused on ceramic staining and glazing.
