What does this technician do?
You’ll support melt shop operations by keeping safety first, assisting maintenance, completing inspections each shift, and tackling routine fixes. You’ll communicate clearly, propose improvements, and keep your work area clean—all while learning procedures for start-up, shut-down, and emergencies.
How will I make an impact?
- Assist maintenance personnel as needed to keep equipment running.
- Follow all safety rules and wear company PPE at all times.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions immediately.
- Raise potential production issues and resource needs to the team.
- Complete equipment inspection reports every shift.
- Execute assignments from operations support promptly and safely.
- Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs independently when appropriate.
- Recommend improvements to work methods and procedures.
- Maintain daily housekeeping for your immediate area.
- Troubleshoot problems using knowledge, experience, and collaboration.
- Understand start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
What background do I need?
- Team-oriented contributor who works well in a fast pace; strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organization.
- Ability to work amid temperature extremes; exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes and mists; uneven surfaces; loud noise; elevated areas; and confined spaces.
- Basic computer skills.
- Dependability: attendance, completing work, and flexibility for changing needs.
- Quick learner who can multitask.
- Lift up to 50 lbs.
- Some overtime required.
- Rotating shifts that may include weekends and holidays.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
