We are seeking an experienced Maintenance / Machine Control Technician to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of automated manufacturing equipment and production processes.
This role combines industrial maintenance, machine operation, troubleshooting, and process control responsibilities. The ideal candidate may come from a maintenance technician, industrial machine operator, process operator, control room operator, production technician, or automation/operator background.
The position is responsible for monitoring and operating automated production equipment, responding to equipment and process issues, performing troubleshooting and basic repairs, and working closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and supervisory teams to minimize downtime and maintain safe, efficient production.
Monitor and operate automated manufacturing equipment and production processes.
Monitor equipment and production performance using HMI, SCADA, PLC-based controls, computerized control systems, operator panels, or similar machine control systems.
Start, stop, adjust, and monitor equipment according to established SOPs and operating procedures.
Monitor production data, equipment conditions, alarms, trends, and operating parameters.
Respond to equipment alarms, abnormal conditions, and production issues.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment problems.
Perform preventive maintenance and assist with corrective maintenance activities.
Diagnose equipment problems using blueprints, electrical schematics, technical manuals, machine documentation, and diagnostic equipment.
Repair or replace components such as motors, pumps, conveyors, sensors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, valves, and other machine components.
Perform basic electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and determine when issues require escalation to maintenance or engineering.
Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated machinery when applicable.
Make appropriate process or machine adjustments to maintain production, quality, and safety requirements.
Assist maintenance personnel with equipment troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and returning equipment to service.
Identify potential equipment failures or process issues and communicate them to maintenance, engineering, or supervision.
Support equipment installation, upgrades, modifications, and relocations.
Document equipment problems, maintenance activities, production issues, and shift activities in logs or electronic systems.
Participate in shift handovers and communicate important equipment and production information.
Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, reliability, productivity, and downtime reduction.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Follow OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, company safety requirements, and established operating procedures.
Operate industrial equipment and material-handling equipment as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or GED required.
2+ years of experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, machine operation, process operations, production control, or a related industrial environment.
Experience operating or troubleshooting automated production machinery.
Experience with at least one computerized or automated control system such as:
HMI
SCADA
PLC-based controls
DCS
Machine control panels
Computerized operator interfaces
Automated production control systems
Ability to monitor and interpret alarms, equipment conditions, production data, trends, and operating parameters.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Basic electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting knowledge preferred.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, machine manuals, and technical documentation.
Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Basic computer skills and ability to enter information into electronic systems or CMMS.
PLC troubleshooting or industrial automation experience preferred.
Welding and light fabrication experience is a plus.
Ability to communicate effectively with production, maintenance, engineering, and supervision.
An Associate degree, technical diploma, vocational training, or certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, Manufacturing, Process Operations, Industrial Technology, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Ability to maintain continuous visual attention to control panels, HMI screens, equipment, and production processes during a 12-hour shift.
Ability to quickly respond to equipment alarms, process changes, and abnormal operating conditions.
Ability to frequently use computers, keyboards, touchscreens, control panels, and communication devices.
Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and enter production areas as needed.
Ability to work around industrial equipment, moving machinery, noise, dust, temperature variations, and other manufacturing conditions.
Ability to safely operate or work around industrial and material-handling equipment.
Training will take place primarily on the day shift for approximately four months. Training may continue as needed until the employee is confident and capable of independently performing the responsibilities of the position.
Potential to move up to $30.00/hour after 6 months of employment.
